Its New Years Day here (in fact the New Year is 8 hours old :-) ) and I thought I would upload a beach scene as my first photo of the year.
It's those beach piles again, taken last evening at Dunedin's St Clair beach which was almost deserted, there weren't even any surfers. It's hard to believe it's the middle of summer as it was cold.

This picture was taken two years ago, early one morning from Taquilie Island on Lake Titicaca, Peru. The lake is unbelievably calm and very often you don't see any boats on the water all day. The lake is also very cool in temperature, even during the summer. A place definitely worth visiting with a purely magical atmosphere.
Every Friday night, between two of these palm trees comes up a screen. Folding chairs are laid on the beach and on the shore line. In some cases beach mats are laid for extra romantic couples. Champagne and cocktails are served. Pop corn follows. 3, 2, 1... its show time!
Finding Nemo and Shark Tales makes sense in this cinema. What "disturbs" me though is the serene sound of waves lapping on the sandy beach and at a certain time of the month a bright full moon right above the screen. Oh and in rare occasions a shooting star would turn my head away from the screen. The countless stars flickering above my head doesn't really bother me.
